Voice Search is now available on BlackBerry by Google Mobile Applications

Now a good news for the blackberry users and that news is that the latest version of Google Mobile Applications introduces efficient applications like voice search and My Location. The first of those allows you to initiate a Google search with using the keyboard or you simply made the search just by your voice that you want to search. All you need to do is to speak the desired search string while holding the Call key - as simple as it gets. Then My Location is also efficient application in the way that if you want to simply search for a restaurant, you just type the name of the "restaurant" and Mobile Applications will give you the list of places in the vicinity.
But there is a condition for such applications that your BlackBerry may contain BlackBerry OS 4.1 or later and there's one bad news as well that this mobile application is yet not supported on BlackBerry Storm but this should be added in the near future.
You can download Google Mobile applications here.

Next-Generation Apple's iPhone has video camera

A very reliable source has released some rumors of how the next iPhone will have some video recording capabilities. This rumor is backed by AT&T. Apple insider's article goes on to detail that in the US, AT&T's network can handle uploading video from an iPhone. This new network would deliver speeds of over 20 megabits per second (20 Mbps)! It is also possible that Apple will have a new "movie" application that will have the capabilities to edit your videos right on your iPhone. iPhone OS 3.0 also supports MMS, so you could both e-mail or MMS a video to all of your friends. The network is ready and waiting for Apple, just like all of us. Another interesting possibility is that Apple may have settled on the Marvell PXA168 ARM chip as the heart of a future device. Some unconfirmed claims point to Apple buying up supplies of this chip which is reportedly also due in the July timeframe.

iPhone OS 3.0 roundup: Push notification, cut and paste, and more

On March 17, Apple presented the blueprint for iPhone OS 3.0, the next version of the world’s most advanced mobile platform.
Apple’s third generation of the iPhone operating system will correct some of the most glaring omissions to date. Key changes include cut, copy & paste functionality, stereo Bluetooth A2DP support, the ability to send and receive MMS messages and a new, universal Spotlight search.

New iPhone SDK___In addition, developers will have 1,000 new APIs (application programming interfaces) to play with that will unlock parts of the iPhone previously off limits or unavailable to third-party applications. Apple didn’t get into all of them, but talked about how developers can now stream audio and video, send e-mail from inside applications, and use the iPhone’s proximity sensor, which means Google will once again be in compliance with the iPhone SDK.

Push Notification__The Apple Push Notification service provides a way to alert your users of new information, even when your application isn’t running. The alerts supported by the service include changing of the app icon (addition of a counter icon badge), pop-up SMS-style reminders or sound alerts.

Cut, copy, and paste — Users finally have the ability to copy and paste text, even across applications. They demonstrated this feature on-stage, and it looked quite easy to use: You just double click on the text you want to cut or copy, and a menu balloon appears above it. If you want to select a more text, you can drag the selection bar to encompass an entire passage. You can also copy and paste multiple photos. This is one of the 100 new features Apple says it will be adding for iPhone users (as opposed to developers).

Syncing of Notes__Other new features include the syncing of Notes, iTunes account creation from the iPhone, YouTube accounts and subscriptions in the YouTube app, and of course stereo A2DP Bluetooth! A2DP is only for the iPhone 3G, but hey, pretty cool.

MMS__Also updated in 3.0, Messages, Apple’s text messaging app. As expected, it will soon support MMS, forwarding and deletion. Also some enhancements to Calendar: support for CalDev and subscriptions. Search has been added to all key apps — Mail, Calendar, iPod, Notes. And now an entirely new app: Voice Memos.

In-App Purchases__App developers will now be able to explore other models to make money, besides charging a one-time fee, or making the application free and running ads. Those models include subscriptions or charging for additional content, free apps will not be able to offer paid upgrades.

P2P__Another new addition to the platform: support for peer-to-peer connectivity. This will really extend the iPhone as a gaming platform. Automatic discovery through Bluetooth. No need to join a WiFi network.

Turn-by-Turn Navigation
The iPhone will also be able to support turn-by-turn navigation when 3.0 is released, although developers will have to provide their own maps due to licensing issues. Still, expect to see Garmin or some of the other big names jump on this bandwagon early.Maps

MAP__You can now embed maps within your applications using the new Map Kit framework. Map Kit works with the Google Mobile Maps Service and features panning and zooming, custom annotations, current location and geocoding.

iPhone OS 3.0 is knocking on the door, launch set for 17 March

A word is out that Apple is now officially inviting representatives of the press to attend their next big announcement event on 17 March. The event will be dedicated to the upcoming iPhone OS 3.0. There is no word of an upcoming mobile phone, but our hopes are high as always. Engadget.com report to have received an invitation by Apple for an upcoming event with its main theme set on iPhone OS 3.0.

Apple will display an "advance preview of what they're building", meaning that you probably won't see any working full-fledged iPhone OS 3.0 there (or iPhone 3 anyway). We really hope that at least some of the stuff on our wishlist will be answered - and maybe we will even be surprised by some new features.

Mio present a new GPS phone - meet the K70...!!!

At an originally-created virtual online booth stand, sat-nav oriented manufacturer Mio presented their latest GPS phone called the Mio Explora K70. It has a 3.5-inch screen of WQVGA resolution, a 3 megapixel auto focus camera and runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro. Explora K70 should also offer optimized GPS navigation experience with Mio's own navigation software.

The Mio Explora K70 is a fully-fledged PocketPC based on the Qualcomm MSM7201 platform and thus sporting a 528 Mhz CPU and 128MB of RAM. It's got quad-band GSM as well as tri-band HSDPA/HSUPA support.

There's an accelerometer on board the Mio Explora K70 to allow automatic screen rotation, and Wi-Fi is also supported.

Mio Explora K70 is certainly not the first GPS-enabled phone by Mio, but it's certainly the most attractive one out of their Mitac lineup.

The most impressive thing about the Mio Explora K70 is its size - it's only 11.9 mm in thickness and weighs 115 g.

Among the letdowns of Explora K70 however is the lack of some sort of a thumb-optimized user interface. Mio could have used Spb Shell for example, but they are obviously trying to keep costs down. The somewhat low screen resolution (by today's standards) is also something to be considered.

The Mio Explora K70 will optionally be delivered with an extended retail package including custom-made device mount and carrying case.

Currently, there is no info on prices and availability for the new Mio Explora K70.

You can have a walk around the virtual Mio booth by visiting our source link before 20 March 2009.

How Microsoft see our digital future

Leave the rest to the taxi driver and enjoy the flashback of having your morning coffee in a big white computerized cup. And if your are interested in seeing the original 5-minute video in its full glory, take a peak at our source.
